Since I grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, not far from New Orleans, I am no stranger to Cajun food. Red beans and rice, gumbo, and shrimp boils were standard fare for Sunday dinners and parties. Every sandwich shop offered shrimp poboys, and I learned how to make pecan pralines at a young age. Now I live in San Francisco, but I still like to cook all those Cajun favorites.
